Monitoring practices in firefighter rehabilitation vary widely. Blood pressure, heart and respiratory rate, temperature, and pulse oximetry are all recommended in the current NFPA 1584 Standard on the Rehabilitation Process for Members, currently in the revision process. Vital signs and hydration are both elusive but have considerable research that points to what works on the fire ground and what doesn’t. This webcast will explore the current state of science in monitoring and hydrating firefighters and provide some insights into coming changes in the standards.
