Recorded: August 23, 2024

Presented by: Steve Cumming, BSN, RN, CFRN

A case study of a patient with significant post-partum hemorrhage in the first 24 hours following delivery. When taken to the OR for surgical control of the bleeding, it was discovered that she had suffered a major uterine rupture and had developed disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). The referring facility elected to transfer the patient and that’s where the flight crew came in. In this webcast, we discuss the epidemiology and pathophysiology of post-partum hemorrhage, uterine rupture and DIC, as well as the management of these conditions in the transport environment.
