Fire Soaps Assists FDNY with MRSA Outbreak at Training Academy

Since the closing of the FDNY’s Training Academy in August due to the outbreak of MRSA, Minerva Bunker Gear Cleaners cleaned and completely decontaminated all of the personal protective ensembles used by the more than 300 probationary firefighters. The disinfection of the gear was achieved with the use of a proprietary EPA Registered fabric sanitizer developed by Defensive Solutions Corp. Fire Soaps Fabric Sanitizer has been proven to eliminate 99.9% of infectious bacteria while eliminating odor-causing bacteria.

The active ingredients create a residual treatment, also known as a Zone of Inhibition, that continues to kill bacteria and protects against cross contamination from both Gram Negative bacteria and Gram Positive bacteria. Fire Soaps Fabric Sanitizer is a naturally plant-derived didecyldimethyl ammonium chloride manufactured from 91% naturally bio-renewable plant-derived feedstock.

In addition to cleaning and disinfecting all of the gear utilized by the current training class, Defensive Solutions Corp. provided the Training Academy with other products from their Fire Soaps catalogue to combat the spread of MRSA and minimize the risk of cross-contamination:

“¢ Fire Soaps Anti-Bacterial Hand Soaps
“¢ Fire Soaps Hand Sanitizer, FDA compliant and confirmed to reduce Staphylococcus aureus (Staph) in as little as 15 seconds.
“¢ Fire Soaps Hard Surface Disinfectant, EPA Registered, hospital grade anti-bacterial that is also virucidal and fungicidal.

All of the products are alcohol-free, kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria and when used properly are proven to significantly reduce the chance of cross contamination from: MRSA, Pseudomonasaeruginosa,
