When Was Our Last Defib?

Timing of pulse checks and defibrillations during a cardiac arrest is important in minimizing hands off time and increasing chances for a true, walk-out-of-the-hospital save. Do you have enough personnel for one person to be a scribe and call out the time intervals? Or do you do the best you can with the people on scene and hope it works out? The new Code Blue App from Last Dojo Development is an easy-to-use smartphone app that runs on both iPhone and Android devices. The app is very intuitive and features a number of buttons to record the start of the code, CPR start and stop, defibrillations and medication administrations. You can now know that you last defibrillated 1 minute 45 seconds ago and your last dose of epinephrine was administered 2 minutes 15 seconds ago. Once the code is over, you can save the data to a log that will populate the times of the procedures for you. The paid “Pro” version offers a better-looking interface and the option of an audible metronome to pace your CPR compressions.

The new S Cut QE from ES Equipment makes fast work of just about any clothing you need to remove in order to assess and treat your patient. Operation is simple and intuitive–just slip the black plastic support under the fabric to be removed and then pull. The rotary cutting blade cuts quickly through heavy fabric and even leather.
