Andrew Dennis, DO, FACS, FACOS, chairs the Division of Pre-Hospital and Emergency Trauma Services at the Cook County Trauma and Burn Unit in Chicago Ill., is Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Associate Professor of Surgery at Rush Medical College. He is board certified in general surgery/critical care and fellowship-trained in trauma and burn surgery. As an active researcher he is regularly published in surgical, emergency medicine and law enforcement journals. He is a Commander for the Winthorp Harbor Il Police Department, Medical Director for the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System, and Chief Surgeon for the Illinois State Police. He coordinates the fellowship in operational medicine and is the author of “Officer Down: A Practical Tactical Guide to Surviving Injury in the Street.” He also serves as Associate Producer and Executive Medical Advisor for NBC’s Chicago Med.
