Where in the World of EMS is A.J.?

JEMS Editor-in-Chief, A.J. Heightman, MPA, EMT-P, is at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel participating in a special Ignite Session on Inter-Professional Simulation Education at the Philadelphia Laerdal Simulation User Network Conference.

A.J. and a panel of experts from several medical disciplines will be discussing how the evolving health care landscape requires collaboration among practitioners to improve patient experiences and outcomes. Inter-professional education (IPE) shows how health care professions are learning simultaneously and interactively.

A.J. and others on the panel will be illustrating how agencies can use simulation and achieve success by creating partnerships among other health care professionals in their simulation training programs.

A.J. will be presenting how Joe Fortis, a paramedic with FDNY EMS and his co-workers, senior mentor and paramedic Joy Canter, and EMTs Shakeel Ajaz and Margaret Devlin, benefited from use of simulation training, the FDNY Simulator Center and its many programs, and practice for, and participation in, the JEMS Games Advanced Clinical Competition held annually at the EMS Today Conference, in the successful resuscitation of 24-year-old Bronx resident Jesse Saldana.
