In Reversal, Denver (CO) Firefighters Are Now Cleared to Start IVs

Denver Health, EMS provider for the city and county of Denver, is reversing its long-term policy preventing firefighters from starting IVs.

The move comes as the fire department has asked for several years to allow firefighters to start IVs, and was rebuffed by the EMS provider.

In the wake of a city council probe and television news investigation, Denver Health decided it would begin the process of training and certifying firefighters to start IVs.
