Paramedic Uses Voice-to-Text App to Talk to Patients Who Lipread

A tip of the hat goes to an English paramedic’s solution to communicating with patients who read lips during the coronavirus pandemic.

Paramedic Danny Hughes, who currently works for South East Coast Ambulance Services, uses Google Live Transcribe to speak to patients who would otherwise be unable to read his lips behind his mask.

Hughes shared his experiences in the video below.

He noted there are other speech transcriptions on the market.

Some commenters questioned if the apps stored patient information appropriately. Hughes said his ambulance service was looking into that.
