‘I Am Absolutely Terrified,’ Says CO Paramedic Headed to Ukraine

A Denver paramedic is headed Ukraine to help treat the wounded, CBS Denver reports.

Only identified as Greg, he said he is a licensed paramedic working at a hospital.

“There’s a lot of people who need healthcare over there right now and very few who are going to be able to get it,” he told the station. “I can’t overstate the amount of fear that I have going into a conflict zone and leaving behind what I do. I am absolutely terrified.”

Greg, who has no combat experience, was granted a six-month leave of absence by his hospital. He bought body armor, a gas mask, and found a helmet and other battlefield supplies. Supporters raised more than $1,000 to help pay for travel.

Greg says his parents have tried to convince him not to go.
