EMS Responds to N.C. Bus Crash Involving 56 Students

GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) – A wreck involving a car and two buses in Gastonia has sent 10 children to the hospital.

The wreck happened shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday at an intersection just off U.S. 321.

Paramedics say 56 children, two bus drivers and two people in the car were involved in the wreck. Those taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital suffered minor injuries.

A bus operated by the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Gaston, a Gaston County YMCA bus and a sedan were involved in the wreck. Officials say the children on both buses had been picked up at area schools.

There was no immediate word on charges.
