EMS legend Randy Mantooth was briefly hospitalized but is now at home recovering, friends said.

Mantooth, star of the hit ‘70s TV show “Emergency!” had a “brief stay” in the hospital, the Los Angeles County Fire Museum wrote on Facebook. The post did not say what caused Mantooth’s hospital visit.

The 77-year-old Mantooth thanked concerned fans for their thoughts and prayers.

“Thank you everyone for all your concerns and well wishes,” Mantooth said in a statement released by the fire museum. “I’m out of the hospital now and back home and recovering. Yay! It’s going to take a couple more weeks before I’m 100%. Be patient.”

Both Mantooth and Tighe are currently filming a documentary about the important role paramedics played during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Emergency!” ran from 1972 and 1977 and is credited with popularizing the paramedicine field. When the show debuted on NBC, there were only twelve squads in service in the entire country.

Mantooth portrayed Paramedic John Gage in the seminal TV show, along with co-star Kevin Tighe, who played Roy Desoto. They were part of a fictional paramedic team assigned to Squad 51 of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
