Pennsylvania First Responders Honored

WBRE – Members of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company were honored last night in Monroe County.The west End Community Ambulance Association presented the first responders with the American Heart Association Heartsaver Hero Award.This comes after first responders saved the life of someone who went into cardiac arrest in their home back in October. Officials say saving lives like this wouldn’t be possible without dedicated volunteers. C.j. Dickinson, West End Community Ambulance Association, “It’s what emergency services is all about, helping each other out and volunteerism is definitely needed in this day and age.” The American Heart Association says 88 percent of cardiac arrests happen at home.

Most NY First Responders Experience Mental Health Challenges, Survey Finds

A survey of more than 6,000 first responders in New York found most experience stress, while others have dealt with anxiety and burnout due to their professions.
