CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. — Code Blue Medical Products, which has a history of innovative airway device designs, announces breakthrough device that will assist with standard and difficult intubations.
The Bell Laryngoscope (R-3) has EMTs, RNs and doctors anxiously awaiting its availability. At the recent EMS Today Show in Baltimore, a few of the responses by users were: “great tool”, “extremely easy to intubate”, and “very easy to use”. 90% of show attendees surveyed who’d had difficult intubations stated that this device would have been very useful, and if it were available they would definitely use it. Mark Dzwonkiewicz, founder of Code Blue was thrilled with feedback from the show. “The results were phenomenal and I walked away with an order. The patent is pending and I already have distributors lined up. The missing link is a manufacturer.”
The Bell Laryngoscope is a replacement handle that integrates with existing blades for far less than current kits or video scopes. The R-3 is the only laryngoscope designed for a second rescuer to assist with intubation, allowing for optimal manipulation of the trachea and vocal chords during intubation.
Additionally, the R-3 is especially helpful for two of the most difficult types of intubation; infants and the obese. “With almost 20 years experience as a paramedic and 10 years working in a Level 1 Trauma Center, I saw a need for a way to not only make these types of intubations for the technicians easier, but also less traumatic for the patients” states Mark. The unique handle allows for a more stable and proper lift, compensates for those with reduced grip strength, and the pediatric plate has a quick reference chart laser etched on the face. Mark continues “The value of this in the field is unquestionable, but the added benefit in the classroom will also be tremendous. The fact is that there are more obese patients out there-this handle makes saving them a lot easier on everyone involved.” A video demonstration is available at http://www.codebluemedical.com.
Code Blue Medical Products is now seeking manufacturers for the Bell Laryngoscope and is open to discussions with investors looking to get in at the ground level to bring this long-needed and anxiously awaited product to the field.
