MedStar Provides Update on D.C. Subway Patients

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) – The smoke at the L’Enfant Plaza Metro sent dozens of passengers to three local hospitals: MedStar Washington Hospital Center, George Washington and Howard University.

Tuesday, MedStar provided an updated on the 18 patients treated there. Two of the patients who were in critical condition have been downgraded to serious and fair. The others have been discharged.

“You could tell that their life had just kind of been put on pause for a little bit,” said MedStar’s Dr. Jeffrey Shupp, describing the patients.
