Webster County (IA) Voters to Decide on EMS Funding in March Special Election

Webster County voters will head to the polls on March 4 to decide on a proposal to fund essential EMS services countywide.

The special election was set during a recent meeting of the County Board of Supervisors, WCCI reports.

Currently, only Fort Dodge has a full-time EMS service, while the rest of Webster County relies on volunteer departments, often leading to longer response times. Advocates emphasize the urgency of the issue, highlighting increasing demand for emergency care and the need for timely, high-quality services.

If approved, the measure would impose a tax of $0.75 per $1,000 of taxable property value to fund EMS services across the county.

This vote comes as part of a broader movement in Iowa, with several counties recently designating EMS as an essential service.
