A patient was safely evacuated from an ambulance after its engine caught fire on U.S. Highway 69 in Huntington, KLTV reports.
According to the Huntington Police Department, the ambulance was on a run Friday when the incident occurred. The Allegiance Ambulance’s engine burst info blames while stopped at a red light.
Medics removed the patient from the vehicle as a bystander attempted to extinguish the flames using a fire extinguisher, but the fire had already engulfed the engine.
Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
