TX to Increase Medical Personnel, PPE to El Paso to Aid in COVID-19 Spike

According to a report from CBS Austin, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Texas Division of Emergency Management will send medical personnel and personal protective equipment (PPE) to the city of El Paso to help combat a spike in COVID-19 and support regional hospitals.

Abbott said 75 medical personnel, including nurses and respiratory therapists, will join 169 personnel previously sent to the El Paso area.

Texas DSHS is also working with contracted staffing agencies to ensure personnel are available for deployment to other regions seeing an spike in COVID-19 hospitalizations so the state can respond quickly to their needs.
