New York Medics Injured in Ambulance Crash

LONG BEACH, N.Y. (AP) – Police say a Long Island ambulance rushing to a beachside rescue of a child collided with a car. Three people suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred Sunday evening at Long Beach Road and East Beech Street.

According to Newsday ( ), fire officials said the child, who reportedly was clinging to a jetty, was rescued by Long Beach lifeguards.

They say two medics in the ambulance and the driver of the car were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities say the ambulance struck a utility pole, causing a temporary power outage in the immediate vicinity of the crash.
