Man Accused of Stealing Chicago Ambulance as Crew was Loading Patient

A Chicago man is accused of stealing an ambulance while paramedics were loading a patient inside.

It happened Sunday afternoon on West Washington Boulevard on the city’s West Side. The 43-year-old suspect was charged with a felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle and a misdemeanor count of driving without a license, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The suspect, Levar Beecham, allegedly jumped in the ambulance and drove off before crashing about a block away. Beecham was then taken into custody.

The report did not say if anyone was hurt.
