A Kanawha County paramedic has captured social media attention after his calm reaction to an unusual incident—a popcorn machine fire at the Rural King store in Cross Lanes.
Jamey Ferguson, a loyal customer who loves Rural King’s popcorn, found himself unexpectedly in the spotlight when his favorite snack machine went up in flames during his visit.
Speaking to WSAZ, Jamey said, “As I was getting my cart, I looked up, and it was all on fire.” His composed demeanor—stemming from his experience as a paramedic—amused internet viewers of a video of the fire, sparking widespread online interest. “With my job and past work experience, nothing really gets to me anymore,” he added.
The viral video has turned Jamey into a local superstar, even leading to autograph signings.
