Child Pinned Under School Bus in NJ Parkway Crash; 13 Injured

A school bus crash on the Garden State Parkway Monday night left 13 people injured, including a child who was ejected from a school bus and pinned underneath it.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. near the James Gandolfini Service Area in Montville. The bus, traveling from Lakewood to Rockland County, overturned in the northbound lanes, landing on its side with 39 passengers on board.

Among the injured, one child was thrown from the bus by the force of the crash and was then pinned under the vehicle. Firefighters lifted the bus to reach the child. Firefighters detected a pulse from the child, who suffered head injuries in the crash, before transporting him.
