According to a report from NEWS4, OptumCare’s 45-foot “Medicine on the Move” mobile health care clinic is now offering medical care, wellness exams, and COVID-19 vaccines to seniors throughout the state of Nevada.
The clinic has now returned to Reno and is in the Grand Sierra Resort parking lot Friday and Saturday.
The mobile clinic travels throughout the state and also offers vital needs such as mammograms, x-rays, and annual physical check-ups.
The clinic said seniors have been delaying important medical exams during the past year because of their fears of COVID-19 since they are the age group at highest risk of death from the virus.
Toni Corbin, chief operating officer for OptumCare, said the clinic was an early adopter of the COVID vaccine once it became available and is playing a vital role in bringing the vaccine to populations that would otherwise have great difficulty accessing it. Corbin estimates that the clinic has administered 50,000 vaccine doses through the mobile clinic.
The services are primarily for people with UCH Medicare Advantage, but said community seniors who are not vaccinated can come and be taken care of.
The clinic has also played an important role in the state’s vaccination efforts by bringing the vaccine, as well as their wellness exams, to Nevada’s rural counties.
For Reno-Sparks area seniors needing the clinic’s services, OptumCare will be open at the GSR parking lot (2500 E. 2nd Street) from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5.
They encourage people to schedule an appointment by calling (800) 382-0870 or online at OptumCare.com.
