JEMS™ archive on mental health and wellness is critically important as paramedics and EMTs frequently encounter traumatic situations, long hours, and physically demanding tasks, which can bring on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Addressing mental health issues proactively through comprehensive support programs, training and a supportive work environment can significantly improve the overall health, job satisfaction and performance of EMS providers.
