Three crew members aboard an Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter were killed Saturday night in a crash in Oklahoma, the company said.
Air Evac Lifeteam said it lost contact with the Bell 206L3 at 11:23 p.m. while the aircraft was returning to base after completing a patient care transport in Oklahoma City. The helicopter and its crew were based in Weatherford.
“Our primary focus is on supporting the families and our team members,” Air Evac Lifeteam said in a statement. Critical Incident Stress Management “teams have been sent to assist our team members during this time. Please reach out if you would like to speak with them.
“At this time, we are not sharing the names of the crew members aboard the flight. We ask that you respect the privacy of our team members and their families, and please do not share their names.”
Other Air Evac Lifeteam crews helped police with searching for the downed helicopter.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
