HAMMONTON, N.J. – A New Jersey man has barricaded himself inside his mother’s Hammonton home in a situation that began Sunday afternoon and has continued into Monday morning.
Police have been on the scene since around 4 p.m. Sunday.
According to officers, the situation started Sunday afternoon when the man pulled a gun on an EMS worker in Deptford and then took off.
Police followed him to his mother’s Hammonton home at 13th Street and Fairview Avenue, where the man then locked himself inside.
Police did turn off the electricity and fire tear gas into the home early Monday morning, but the suspect did emerge.
By 6 a.m., it looked like the situation may be over. The medical examiner responded to the scene and took what appeared to be a body from the residence. Many investigators left the scene. But, by late morning, police had yet to release details on how the standoff ended.
