It happened around 5:40 a.m. Monday as emergency crews responded to a report that the 40-year-old man was struck on a highway in the city’s Germantown section. Authorities say the man became violent and began attacking the medics as he was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Police say the man stabbed the medics with scissors and threw a canister out of the ambulance. The medics were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The patient was eventually restrained and taken to a hospital. Investigators say the driver of the vehicle that hit him stopped at the scene and won’t face charges.
