NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division of the New Castle County Department of Public Safety hosted their annual EMS Graduation and Appointment Ceremony to recognize the county graduates of the paramedic training program, and those paramedics that were recruited from outside Delaware and appointed to the paramedic service.
The ceremony was conducted at the county Department of Public Safety Headquarters in Minquadale. County Executive Paul G. Clark was present to recognize the newest New Castle County Paramedics. “Our New Castle County paramedics are certified as some of the best in the country. If you are seriously ill or injured, these are the people you want to respond,” said New Castle County Executive Paul Clark. “The addition of these eight new paramedics helps ensure that the County’s Emergency Medical Services Division continues to deliver life-saving care that is second to none.”
Paramedics Patrick M. O’Boyle and Yvonne T. Russell were recognized as graduates of the Delaware Technical and Community College Paramedic Class of 2010-2011. Paramedics Richard P. Beverlin, Brandon S. Bowyer, David T. Franck, Julianne F. Santora, Bryan K. Stites and Ashley M. Zamule were recognized for their successful completion of the field evaluation process following their appointment to the Emergency Medical Services Division.
“You have elected to join the ranks of your colleagues on the front lines of our public safety and public health system in New Castle County, Delaware,” said Chief Lawrence E. Tan. “You were appointed to the service because you proved that you have the ability to support our mission of Excellence in Service.”
New Castle County EMS is a career paramedic service within the county Department of Public Safety. The agency has an authorized staff of 117 personnel, including 95 paramedics. The EMS Division conducts an annual Graduation and Appointment Ceremony as a part of their observance of National Emergency Medical Services Week.
