Nation’s First Certified Ambulance Compliance Officers Announced

NAAC, the nation’s leading source for education and certification programs in ambulance billing and compliance, is excited to announce the debut of the nation’s first certified ambulance compliance officers. Attendees from across the country participated in an intensive two day program on Oct. 11-12, 2014 in Hershey, Pennsylvania which was taught by the nation’s leading EMS attorneys and ambulance compliance professionals. Students then demonstrate their proficiency by successfully completing an examination at the conclusion of the course.

The certified ambulance compliance officer (CACO) course covers key areas in the ambulance industry such as compliance program development and implementation, discusses the role of the compliance officer, teaches students how to conduct internal compliance audits, and understand healthcare fraud and abuse laws, and covers many other topics.

Attorney, CACO course co-developer, and former ambulance service compliance officer Amanda Ward observed, “how engaged and enthusiastic the attendees were throughout the two days.” Ward added, “in this era of increased enforcement and enhanced scrutiny in the ambulance industry it is more vital than ever to have an active effective compliance program in place.”

Recent graduates of the CACO program stated, “This is the best compliance training I have ever received,” and, “CACO drives home the importance of compliance in the ambulance industry.” During the program a recent graduate noted, “I think every CEO should take this course. After two lessons I’m already excited to get back and implement what I learned!”

Due to the high demand of the first CACO course, three more opportunities have been announced for the spring.  These additional courses will take place immediately prior to abc3 — the Ambulance Billing, Coding and Compliance Clinic, the largest ambulance reimbursement seminar in the nation.  The abc3 conference is conducted by the National EMS Industry Law Firm of Page, Wolfberg & Wirth, LLC of Mechanicsburg, PA and will be held March 25-26, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nev., April 21-22, 2015 in St. Louis, Mo., and June 10-11, 2015 in Clearwater Beach, Fla.  For more information and to register for these events visit: www.abc3conference.com.

NAAC — The National Academy of Ambulance Compliance — has provided education and certification programs to ambulance billing and compliance professionals for over five years now.  In addition to the new CACO program, NAAC also offers the Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) course, which has certified thousands of ambulance billing professionals in proper billing and coding practices.  NAAC courses are also offered through the University of Pittsburgh, and NAAC has entered into a continuing education relationship with the CMS Medicare Learning Network, with several Medicare Administrative Contractors, and numerous statewide ambulance associations.  NAAC is recognized as the “gold standard” in EMS billing and compliance education.  For more information visit: www.AmbulanceCompliance.com.
