BOSSIER CITY, La. – Bossier City Fire Chief Sammy Halphen has been selected to serve on a national committee that is charged with setting disciplinary standards policies for all emergency medical personnel in the United States.
Chief Halphen was recently appointed to the Disciplinary Standards Committee of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), the national certification agency that establishes uniform standards for training and examination of emergency medical personnel in the United States. Chief Halphen’s first assignment with the committee will be to travel to the NREMT’s headquarters in Columbus, Ohio next week where he and the other committee members will meet to discuss, review and modify the organization’s present disciplinary policy which applies to all certified EMT’s in the country.
This is the second time Chief Halphen has been called upon by the NREMT to help develop national guidelines and policy for EMT’s. In 2008 Chief Halphen served on the NREMT’s Standards Committee and assisted with updating the national testing process for all EMT’s.
The NREMT is funding all of the expenses for Chief Halphen’s trip to Columbus.
