In honor of Pittsfield firefighter-EMT Zachary Noble, his family has set up an online scholarship fund to provide scholarships to students taking EMT courses.

Zachary died unexpectedly at the age of 27 while exercising, family members said. Noble’s stepmother, Karen Noble, organized the fund on the crowdsourcing website GoFundMe, with a goal of raising $10,000. As of this writing, they are already more than halfway to their goal.

In addition to his work as a firefighter and EMT, Zachary Noble also served as fleet and facilities coordinator for the local ambulance corps and volunteered on renovations to the local ambulance garage in his spare time.

Karen said she hopes the GoFundMe fund will serve as a legacy for her stepson and allow for something in his name to continue to help others, as he did in life.
