American Medical Response in Jackson (MS) Offers Paid EMT Training

American Medical Response (AMR) in Jackson is offering a paid EMT training program in an effort to make the career more appealing to job-seekers, WJTV reports.

The program hires participants as part-time employees during the 10- to 12-week course, with classes held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants are paid $10.50 per hour while in training. Upon successfully passing the course and the National Registry exam, trainees are promoted to full-time EMT positions with a starting salary of $41,000 per year.

AMR also offers scholarships for those interested in pursuing advanced certifications. To qualify for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license
  • Score at least 60% on the EMT entrance exam
  • Pass a physical ability test

An open house for prospective applicants will be held at the AMR facility near the Jackson Medical Mall on Monday, January 27, starting at 8 a.m.
