St. Petersburg Fire Rescue (FL) came out on top at the JEMS Games Clinical Competition at EMS Today in Florida on Thursday.
The JEMS Games is a challenging and educational clinical competition highlighting cutting-edge simulation technology.
The preliminary competition challenged 19 teams to appropriately assess and provide quality, efficient patient care during several realistic, high-pressure scenarios.
The top three teams moved on to the final competition, a 20-minute high-energy scenario that required managing multiple patients at a structure fire with a report of trapped victims.
Meret USA St. Petersburg (FL) Local 747 came in second place. Sussex County EMS (DE) came in third place.
“First, I want to congratulate [winning team] for an amazing performance,” said JEMS Executive Editor Mike McEvoy. “They really defined the meaning of teamwork and showed their expertise, knowledge and quick thinking abilities in a fast-paced setting. The JEMS Games is not just a competition, however. It reflects the high-quality care that continues to evolve in the world of emergency medical services every year.”
The JEMS Games founding sponsor is Laerdal Medical Corp.
