According to a report from NBC4, an emergency medical services crew from the Yonkers (NY) Fire Department (YFD) helped deliver a baby boy inside a home on Thursday.
As the crew arrived to the home, the baby was well on its way to coming out.
YFD Firefighter James Courtien said that they clocked the contractions at three minutes, 20 seconds, indicating that they had no time to transport the mother to the hospital. Courtien, Paramedic Yaritza Abreu, and the rest of the crew worked together to keep the mother calm throughout the ordeal.
Once the child, a boy, was delivered, a new problem arose: the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. However, the crew was able to undo the cord. The baby, named Anthony, is now healthy.
