Woman Killed, Two Paramedics Injured in DE Crash

A 33-year-old Newark woman, Kierra West, died in a crash involving a New Castle County Paramedics vehicle early on New Year’s Day, the Newark Post reports.

The accident occurred just after 2:30 a.m. on southbound I-95 near the I-495 split in Wilmington, the Post reports.

The paramedic crew was responding to a separate crash on the left shoulder of the interstate. The driver of the Ford F-350 paramedic vehicle activated its emergency lights and began changing lanes to reach the scene when it collided with West’s Nissan Altima, the Post reports.

West was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 6-year-old passenger was transported to Nemours Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two paramedics involved were treated at Christiana Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
