A stolen ambulance collided with a Memphis police car early Wednesday morning.
According to reports from ABC 24 and Fox 13, the incident unfolded after the ambulance was stolen from Methodist South Hospital in Whitehaven.
Memphis Police report the ambulance was parked at the hospital’s dock while the crew assisted a patient in a wheelchair onto a stretcher. When they returned, the vehicle was missing.
Approximately 30 minutes later, officers tracked the stolen ambulance to a point near the intersection of East E.H. Crump Boulevard and South Third Street in South Memphis, where it had crashed into a police squad car.
The crash scene showed significant damage to both vehicles. The suspect was taken into custody.
