Meet the 16 Denver Health paramedics and eight communications officers who serve on the Wildland Team.

The are deployed by the National Interagency Fire Center, according to 9News.

The medics are trained to conduct firefighting operations if a critical incident arises, but the members are there to provide medical assistance.

Two Denver Health paramedics are helping out in Oregon and Wyoming.

“You get an experienced paramedic provider who is doing this full-time in an inner city with thousands of patient experiences and patient encounters and transferring that over to the austere remote environment,” said Lt. Jay Starzynski, who co-manages Denver Health’s Wildland Team.
