Two Benton Harbor paramedics sustained serious injuries when their ambulance collided with two school buses at the intersection of M-139 and East Empire Avenue Wednesday.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. while the ambulance was responding to an emergency call, WOODTV reports.
Investigators from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office reported that one school bus was stopped at a red light, and when the light turned green, it moved into the path of the oncoming Medic One ambulance, which was using its lights and siren. The collision caused the bus to crash into a second school bus, WOODTV reported
No students aboard either school bus were injured. However, the paramedics in the ambulance suffered serious-but-non-life-threatening injuries. A driver and driver assistants in one of the buses suffered minor injuries.
