Back injuries in EMS are common, and many agencies lack the adjuncts, tools and technology that can help ensure a higher level of safety and injury prevention. So, our goal should be to lift and carry patients the right way, and as safe as possible for all concerned–providers and patients. The purpose of this article is to introduce a more efficient and biomechanically sound manual life/carry procedure for EMS, fire and law enforcement than the traditional one that is in common practice.
