Sussex County (DE) EMS Wins the 2023 JEMS Games!

Sussex County (DE) EMS takes home the gold in the JEMS Games!

Zionsville (IN) Fire Department and San Miguel (CA) Fire & Rescue came in second and third place, respectively.

For the last several months, a team of volunteers from across the country was working to format and refine the preliminary and final competitions. Friday’s final competition drew on the expertise of numerous coordinators, judges and volunteers to make sure each team was challenged, evaluated and scored correctly.

The final competition was designed to challenge the teams’ ability to work as a team under pressure while providing appropriate and efficient patient care. Communication between team members was critically important as they faced multiple patients, critical injuries and emotional bystanders.

Thank you to Clinton County (IN) EMS; East Central (IN) Fire and EMS Protection Territory; Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue; and the South Korea National Fire Agency for competing in the preliminary round.

And thank you for the DC Fire & EMS for being our run-through team to iron out any kinks before the show. Thank you to our wonderful friends from South Korea who traveled so far to attend.

And a special thank you to our volunteers! Without you we couldn’t put on a wonderful show.
