Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents working near Sierra Vista, Ariz., rescued a Mexican national who sustained multiple injuries attempting to enter the United States illegally.
Early Sunday morning, agents from the Brian A. Terry Border Patrol Station responded to reports of an injured illegal alien stranded in the Coronado National Park. A short time later, agents located the man who, after reportedly being deserted by his group, appeared to have initially injured his leg and was unable to continue walking. Due to the cliffs and mountainous terrain, helicopters were not able to access the area so Border Patrol EMTs used ropes and a basket carrier to rescue the man and carry him to safety. After being medically evaluated, he was transported to a local medical facility for further care.
The Tucson Sector Border Patrol stands at the ready to provide emergency medical response to those in need. The Sector has more than 4,200 first responders, 250 EMTs and 12 paramedics.
