USAR Training with Colorado Task Force 1

West Metro Fire Rescue – Members of Colorado Task Force 1 (CO-TF1) spent a week in early June in Indiana, training in earthquake rescue.

They joined about a dozen other urban search and rescue teams from the U.S. and also Canada and Australia.

At the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, they were able to test themselves in several skill sets- recon, search (canine and technical), collapse rescue, confined space operations, high angle rescue, water rescue operations, hazmat operations, communications, and medical- to name a few.

Task force members work for fire agencies all over Colorado’s Front Range. West Metro is the sponsoring agency for the task force.

CO-TF1 has been deployed to several hurricanes, floods and the World Trade Center after 9/11.
