GREENBELT, Md. – The sole survivor of a 2008 Maryland medevac crash is suing the federal government for $50 million.
The suit filed on behalf of Jordan Wells last week in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt alleges Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controllers provided outdated weather information.
It also says they didn’t dispatch an adequate search and rescue response after the crash.
Wells and 17-year-old Ashley Younger, who died in the crash, were being transported for medical treatment after a car accident.
Pilot Stephen Bunker, a flight paramedic and an emergency medical technician also died in the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board concluded that a combination of factors caused the crash, including outdated weather information and a pilot not proficient in instrument landing approaches.
