Orange County (CA) Firefighters Rescue Girl with Hand Trapped in Mall Escalator

Orange County firefighters performed a technical rescue at a mall in Santa Ana Sunday when a girl got her hand caught in an escalator.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. when teenager’s hand got entrapped in an escalator handrail at the MainPlace Mall.

The department used a Dremel tool to cut through plastic on the escalator to access bolts underneath. That allowed them to disassemble the unit and free her hand.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
