Moldovan EMS Officials Tour Greenville Fire Rescue

It was like a trip to Disneyland for emergency services representatives from the poorest country in Europe when Greenville Fire-Rescue officers and N.C. National Guard soldiers welcomed their partners from Moldova to the city last week for a tour of the department’s facilities and equipment.

Col. Anatol Viniciuc, chief of Moldova’s national fire service, Capt. Galina Turcan, chief of the biological, chemical and radiological hazards team, and Capt. Tudor Popa, head of the national search and rescue team Tuesday reviewed every piece of equipment aboard the semi-trailer used by the state’s regional Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team.

Hosted by the Greenville-based N.C. National Guard 42nd Civil Support Team’s Lt. Col. Danny Mills and Capt. Lance Gaither, the Moldovan emergency services leaders were guided through their GFR tour by Lt. Charles Tripp, who went to Moldova in May to learn about their services and techniques.
