Report: Pittsburgh EMS Chief Accuses Fire Bureau of Takeover Attempt

A local news report examined alleged intrigue in the world of Pittsburgh (PA) emergency medical services (EMS) delivery.

WPXI reports that the Pittsburgh Fire Bureau and the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services are feuding over several issues, including response times and an unresolved contract.

The report cited a proposal by the Fire Bureau to take over some EMS services which purpotedly sparked a heated back-and-forth between from the unions and the head of EMS.

The proposal reportedly would allow the fire department to take over some EMS functions, including patient transport and rescue.
