Queens Hatzolah (NY) Volunteer Remembered

A volunteer Emergency Medical Service provider with Queens Hatzolah (NY), a chapter of the global Jewish volunteer paramedic organization, is being remembered after losing his life to COVID-19.

Yaakov Meltzer was sometimes called “Rabbi Doctor” after a career as a physician’s assistant, according to news reports about his death.

Yaakov and his wife Debbie were in quarantine early on in the pandemic because of Yaakov’s heart condition. He became ill several days after his last shift with Queens Hatzolah.

He passed away on March 24 at age 64.
