GARRETSON, S.D. – Two people were injured when what authorities described as a prank went awry and a car crashed into a Garretson nursing home.
Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Sgt. Preston Evans says three people were waiting outside the Palisade Manor late Sunday for a friend to get off work when the driver decided to play a trick on the other two sitting on the car’s trunk by revving the engine. He says the driver accidentally shifted into reverse instead of neutral.
The car slammed through a wall and pinned a 101-year-old patient’s leg between the wall and a bed. The woman was treated at a hospital and released. One of the people on the back of the car suffered an injured ankle.
The driver, 18-year-old Clarrissa Kutil of Garretson, was cited for careless driving and no driver’s license.
