TALIHINA, Okla. (AP) – Federal Aviation Administration investigators are at the site of a deadly crash of a medical helicopter in southeastern Oklahoma.
FAA spokesman Tony Molinaro said Wednesday that investigators are inspecting the wreckage of a helicopter operated by Wichita, Kan.-based EagleMed that crashed near the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina Tuesday evening.
Health center spokeswoman Janet Sharp says a patient that was being transported to a medical facility in Tulsa died. Sharp says it’s uncertain whether the patient died due to the crash or a previous medical condition.
Sharp says the helicopter’s flight nurse is listed in stable condition at a Tulsa hospital. The helicopter’s pilot and medic suffered minor injuries and have been released.
The crash is the third involving an EagleMed helicopter in Oklahoma since 2010.
