According to a report from KOCO5, the Stillwater (OK) Medical Center (SMC) released a surge plan on Monday after seeing a major spike in cases.
Center officials reported 15 people in the hospital with COVID-19–an increase of seven over the past week. Three people are in the now in the intensive care unit.
Denise Webber, SMC’s CEO, wrote in a statement that an increase in admissions has pushed the Center into its surge plan, and the SMC has expanded its COVID-19 beds by converting more regular patient rooms into COVID patient rooms. She also wrote that the rise in hospital admissions, although not currently on the scale seen in other areas of the U.S., is concerning.
According to the hospital, 38 of the Center’s 55 beds are currently in use. Out of seven ICU beds, all seven are in use.
