Newmar Announces Waterproof Charger

Newport Beach, Calif. — Newmar announces the release of the Waterproof Charger, model WP 12-35. The charger is specifically designed for installation in exposed locations aboard fire trucks, utility, commercial and specialty vehicles. Its 100% sealed case offers installation locations not available to traditional onboard chargers, freeing limited in-cab and compartment space where non-waterproof chargers must be mounted. A remote battery meter is included that can be mounted on the cab exterior or dash board displays the battery charge level via a color coded bar graph, allowing quick check of battery bank condition from a distance.

The WP 12-35 is a 12 volt, two stage float charger, which produces 35 amps for 1 hour from a cold start and 17 amps continuously capable of charging Lead-Acid, AGM and Gel-Cell batteries. The unit is a single bank charger that can be expanded to two banks with the use of a Newmar Battery Isolator, model BI-100. The charger features the following protections: current limiting and reverse polarity, AC input fuse, over temperature shutdown with auto-reset, and an IP 65 vent rating.

The Waterproof Charger is housed in an anodized aluminum heat sink case with water intrusion protection on all seams and case penetration points equipped with all stainless steel hardware and features re-enforced mounting flanges.
Located in Newport Beach, Calif., Newmar has been supplying reliable, high-quality DC power solutions to the emergency vehicles, telecommunications, and marine industries since 1970.
